A new year usually means new goals and, hopefully, new accomplishments. If selling your home is on that long list of things you’d like to get done in 2015, Island Living Real Estate has some suggestions on how you can accomplish that goal with these simple tips.

Declutter

The first thing you should do, says Rachel Pinder, Broker/Appraiser at Island Living Real Estate, is to declutter your home after the Christmas rush. “When you are taking all of your decorations down after the holidays, that’s a perfect time to declutter your home and get rid of everything you did not use in 2014,” says Rachel.

Repair

After the holidays is also a good time to make any repairs that may be needed, and clean up the exterior of your house to boost that all-important curb appeal. “Prune your yard, touch up painting, clean patios and decks, pressure clean walkways and driveways, and whatever else may be in need of some TLC,” she adds.

Research

As 2014 comes to an end, doing your homework could result in a quick sale. Contact a local Real Estate agent to being laying the groundwork, and look at what homes, comparable to yours, sold for in 2014. “Researching sales from 2014 will help you to determine where you should price your property for 2015,” says Rachel. While we don’t know what 2015 will bring for the Real Estate market, if you prepare you can make the most of whatever awaits. Happy New Year to everyone!
