We're blessed to be surrounded by over 700 islands and cays that are rich with history, culture and native fruits. One particular island stands out as we dive into some of our favorite recipes from around the web and that's Eleuthera.
Originally called Cigateo, it's name was change following European settlement on the island. It's current name is derived from the Greek word eleutheros, meaning "free". Eleuthera experienced great agricultural prosperity from 1950-1980; a major export was pineapples which were sent to the island of Hawaii during this period.
Now a popular vacation island in the Bahamas, famous now for its pink sand beaches, it serves as the inspiration for our favorite summer tropical drinks.
