Bahamas Real Estate Expert Offers Spring Cleaning Tips

NASSAU, BAHAMAS— Bahamas real estate Broker Rachel Pinder has identified the top five steps a homeowner who has listed their Bahamas real estate for sale can take to put the home’s best face forward to potential buyers.

1. Pressure Wash
It isn’t always practical to repaint the exterior of a home you’re attempting to sell, so giving it a good cleaning is the next best thing, said Pinder, principal broker of the Bahamas Realty agency Island Living Real Estate. Pressure washers can be rented from home improvement stores.

“While you’re at it, don’t forget to hit your concrete surfaces, including sidewalks and driveways, as well,” Pinder said. “You’ll be amazed at how clean they can be.”

2. Clean Interior Walls
Dust, smoke and even grease can accumulate on walls. Tackle the dinginess with warm water and an all-purpose cleaner. Resist the urge to “spot treat” noticeably dirty wall areas because this will only make the rest of the uncleaned surfaces look worse, said the Nassau Bahamas rental properties specialist.

3. Wash Windows
Have you made the claim that you “don’t do windows?”

“Get over it,” Pinder said. “It may not be an enjoyable task, but clean windows go a long way toward making a home look more appealing to a potential buyer.”

It’s particularly important to clean sliding glass or French doors, she said, adding that the better view you can provide to potential buyers, the happier they will be.

4. Shed Some Light On It
This time of year, dark, cavelike rooms aren’t inviting to a buyer. Replace draperies that block out light with lightweight alternatives. The additional light adds warmth to a room and makes those who enter feel welcome.

5. Clean The Garage
A garage no longer is just a space to park the vehicles at night. These days, they serve as an extra children’s play area and double as “man caves.” Clean out the cobwebs, sweep away the leaves and don’t be afraid of putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls.
