Bahamas Real Estate Broker Says Palm Cay Is A Lifestyle and A Community
January 9, 2009 —NASSAU, BAHAMAS— A new gated community in the Bahamas is taking island living to new heights with its exclusive marina feature and its amenities for all walks of life.
Palm Cay, a 69-acre community located on New Providence Island, is one of only three developments that offers a marina, said Rachel Pinder, principal broker of Island Living Real Estate in Nassau.
“We believe Palm Cay is going to be of interest to a large segment of those in search of Bahamas real estate because there aren’t many secure, private marinas on the islands,” Pinder said. “This new development provides the convenience and luxury of mooring your boat near your home in a sheltered environment.”
Palm Cay will interest more home buyers than just those who own boats. Its parks, clubhouse and beach area make it ideal for families, while buyers of second homes likely will be attracted to the beachfront condominiums, she said.
Features
Palm Cay’s deep water marina has 184 slips available for purchase and 10 visitors’ slips available for daily rental. The marina actually serves as the focal point of this luxury gated community. Slips range in size from 35 feet to 50 feet. The marina covers eight acres, is fully illuminated and offers water, ice, fuel and electricity.
“The Bahamas is a boater’s paradise, so dock space is limited on the island,” Pinder said. “Having marina facilities available so close to your home is very attractive to many boaters.”
Palm Cay’s location on the eastern end of the island puts residents closer to the Exumas, which is a hot spot for boaters on the weekends.
Located next to the marina is the Governor’s House, Palm Cay’s exclusive clubhouse. The Governor’s House is a colonial style, private clubhouse for residents and members and includes a private beach, swimming pool, bar and restaurant.
“In addition to the marina, the clubhouse really sets this community apart from other gated communities in the area because the clubhouse offers a full-service restaurant on-site,” Pinder said.
The community has more than 1,500 feet of beach frontage and provides exclusive access to a protected cove and nearby coral reef. It offers three meticulously landscaped parks with features including tennis courts, a pavilion and children’s play equipment.
Living arrangements in the community include a selection of townhomes, condominiums and single family lots. Spacious townhouses occupy prime position around the marina. Three and four bedroom homes are available in three styles, all of which offer beautiful marina views. Beach condominiums comprising two and three bedroom apartments and three bedroom penthouses overlook the beach and sparkling ocean.
Lot prices range from $178,000 to $316,000, Pinder said.
“More and more people are looking for a gated community lifestyle wherein you can feel more protected and have all the amenities right in the neighborhood in which you live,” Pinder said. “Palm Cay offers tennis, beaches and boating- all of the things that people who live in the Bahamas love. I think Palm Cay is a good investment, because you are investing in a lifestyle that is good for you and your family.”
Nearby Amenities
For families with school-age children, the St. Andrew’s School – a private school for
boys and girls - is within close walking distance. As the International School of The Bahamas, it accommodates national and international students at primary, middle and secondary levels and has an excellent reputation for ensuring the success of each individual pupil.
St Andrew’s is an International Baccalaureate World School and offers the IB Primary Years program and the IB Diploma program.
Nassau has two major hospitals and the capital is also the island’s commercial, retail and entertainment center.
Bay Street, in the heart of the city, is home to fine international shopping. Fashion, jewelry, cameras, china, crystal, leather goods and fine linens cost significantly less here, due to the fact that there is no sales tax.
Palm Cay is 45 minutes from Nassau International Airport. Because New Providence is 21 miles long and just seven miles wide, virtually all corners of the island are easily accessible from Palm Cay.
